Fried Cabbage

Wednesday, October 6, 2010

(Me last month when we went to the produce store. Looks like a lot but we are feeding 6)

Fried Cabbage is one of my favorite dishes and is easy to prepare and you can vary the ingredients depending on what you like. I make it with or without meat. When I use meat it is usually turkey ham.

How much you use will depend on how many people you are cooking for.

Cabbage (slice all the way down and then slice that four to five times to make little slices. Little squares are fine too.)

Mild frying peppers (remove seeds and slice)

Scallions (cut the bulb off the end and slice up the rest)

Yellow squash

Jar of roasted red pepper (put in after the other veggies have softened a bit during cooking)

I was out of carrots, mushrooms, zucchini and onions but I usually add that too. There are plenty of other veggies you could add. Get creative!

In my wok I heat a little Wildtree Hickory Smoke Grilling Grapeseed Oil. (You can substitute with the oil of you choice. I love the hickory flavor and grapeseed oil is very healthy and has a high cooking flash point.)

I add some hot sauce or habanero sauce which is even hotter. (either one will do)

I preheat the oil and hot sauce and then start adding the veggies to the pan.

I add seasonings and then add more of the veggie mixture until all the veggies are in the wok.

I used Wildtree Adobo Seasoning Blend, Wildtree Garlic & Herb Blend, Wildtree Garlic Galore Seasoning Blend  and Wildtree Scampi Blend (This has minced pieces of Garlic in it. I love love love garlic)

I love Wildtree's seasoning blends and they are preservative, msg, and additive free.

I use non stick tongs to mix it all around.

I cook it until it is as soft as I want the cabbage to be. I have had it with the cabbage soft and slightly firm. I prefer soft.

When it is done I either eat it as is or put it inside of a wrap which is really good!

10 Power packed foods for your body!

Tuesday, September 21, 2010

What is the secret to a long and healthy life? A big part of it is in the food that we eat. As the saying goes, you are what you eat. As you may well know, all foods are not created equal.

If you eat good you can more than likely expect for your body to respond well and when you do not make good food choices you can more than likely expect your body to behave negatively. Choosing and eating the right foods may help increase your life expectancy as well as the quality of your life.

Here are ten of the top power packed foods designed to give you energy, vitality and all around good health, so eat up!

1. Beans – If they give you gas, take precautions before you eat them. Soaking them first can help. Beans of all kinds (kidney, navy, lentils, chickpeas, Northern) are high in protein. This is plant protein so it contains very little fat, carbohydrates and calories.

If fiber is a problem in your diet, eating a healthy portion of beans each day can keep your digestive system healthy. Beans can be prepared and added to recipes in a wide variety of ways from soups to salads.

2. Oatmeal – Oatmeal is coming into popularity as a food that lowers blood cholesterol. You can make it yourself with rolled oats or eat the instant kind if you are in a hurry. If you are worried about too much sugar in the instant type you can also opt for the instant plain oatmeal and add your own sweetener.

Oatmeal is a filling grain that also provides much needed fiber to keep hunger at bay and your blood sugar constant. You can also add to recipes like meatloaf, cookies or muffins.

3. Fruits – Fruits are filled with antioxidants such as Vitamin C and A. Antioxidants fight free radical damage in the body and reduce the risk of cancer. Berries such as blueberries and grapes have the highest amount of antioxidants. But choose an array of fruits in a wide variety of colors for maximum health. The antioxidants in fruit boost the immune system to fight the effects of aging in the body.

4. Allium foods – This class of foods includes garlic, onions, leeks and shallots. Garlic is known for lowering cholesterol. Allium vegetables help guard the body against the risk of cancer and many other ailments. They also help lower blood pressure and prevent blood clots. Eating these power packed vegetables in their natural state especially garlic increases their health benefits. They are also quite tasty and a staple in most of our dishes. Eating healthy never tasted so good

5. Salmon – Eating foods rich in omega-3 fatty acids reduces the risk of heart disease and other conditions like atherosclerosis. Wild salmon is a fatty fish but it contains good fats that has been proven to improve health in children and adults. Salmon is rich in protein which is of great use after an exercise session to build muscle tissue.

6. Flax seed – Like salmon flax seed contains omega-3 fatty acids. These seeds also contain omega-6 and omega-9 fatty acids. You get a lot of power to fight high cholesterol, heart disease and diabetes when you eat these seeds. Ground flax seed can easily be added to fruit smoothies, sprinkled in yogurt, eaten with cereal or even added to pancake or muffin mix to name a few.

7. Peppers – Peppers contain antioxidants like beta-carotene and Vitamin C. Peppers come in several colors and range from mild and sweet to so hot you will be calling the fire department for assistance. All peppers contain a substance called capsaicin. Capsaicin has the properties of an anti-inflammatory, a pain reliever, lowers cancer risk and heart disease. They are good in raw in salads, salsa and taste wonderful cooked too.

8. Nuts and seeds – Nuts are high in fat but those fats are the good kind. Peanuts, almonds, Brazil nuts, walnuts and pistachios are all providers of good fats and protein. Crush them into a fine powder and use as a coating instead of higher carb bread crumbs if you like. Nuts help to lower cholesterol. Eat them right out of the shell with no additives.

9. A├žai – This berry has been in the news lately. It is rich in antioxidants and increases energy. You can get more done and look better while doing it. You can get Acai juice and supplements in your health food store.

10. Yogurt – The fat free variety is good for you. Yogurt contains calcium, Vitamin B, and protein. If you don’t drink milk, yogurt is an alternative to get your calcium in to build strong bones and teeth. Live yogurt also contains friendly bacteria to help promote a healthy digestive system. If you don't eat dairy there are soy alternatives.

Building a better healthier body begins with what you eat. Try these super foods to get started on the right foot.

Delicious Turkey Meatloaf

Monday, September 6, 2010

For dinner tonight I decided to make a yummy turkey meatloaf. I make it several ways so this is just one way we like it.

Seasonings:

Onion powder
Wildtree Meatloaf mix
Wildtree Scampi blend
Wildtree Garlic Pepper blend
Soy Sauce
BBQ sauce

Veggies:

Scallions
Mushrooms (Baby Bella)
Onion
Zucchini
Carrots
Spinach
Sweet Frying Peppers
Celery

Potatoes:
Regular with skin left on after being cleaned.

First I add the ground turkey, soy sauce, bbq sauce, seasoning, onions, mushrooms, peppers and zucchini  in a large bowl. I used 3lbs ground turkey. I mixed well and added some of the seasonings listed above.

Next, in the roasting pan I added a soy sauce and Wildtree Scampi blend then put spinach on top of it. I added more seasoning from those listed above on top of the spinach and layered on some carrots.

Then I started putting the meatloaf mixture on top of the bed of spinach and veggies and left room all around the edges. That is where I place the potatoes and the rest of the chopped up veggies. I added seasoning on the potatoes and then popped it in to the oven on 350 degrees.

Once the meatloaf is almost done I add BBQ sauce to the top and then pop it back in the oven to finish cooking.

It is so delicious and one of our favorites. Also everything is cooked in one dish and tastes great the next day too.

Wildtree's Hickory Smoke Grilling Grapeseed Oil is one of my favorite Wildtree products. I love it because it make everything taste like its been cooked on the grill. Below is a video recipe showing just how easy it is to make a delicious stir fry that tastes like it was cooked on a charcoal grill. That's one of my favorite methods of cooking and now thanks to Wildtree I don't have to light up the grill everytime I want that delicious grilled flavor.

Wildtree Pizza..ummmm.

Monday, March 15, 2010

For as long as I can remember I have always loved pizza. Becoming allergic to cheese in my early 20's didn't damper my love for it, in fact I love it more. I started off ordering pizza and asking the local pizza shop to leave of the delectable gooey cheese that I loved. Sometimes they did and sometimes they didn't. I began making my own pizza either using tortilla wraps or premade crusts.

I recently decide to try Wildtree's pizza crust. It was a success and it was easy. My whole family loved it. When making your own pizza the possibilities are endless. Enjoy the videos!

Easy Flaxseed Beer Bread.

Saturday, March 6, 2010

I've always wanted to make bread but never got around to doing so because of all of the work involved. I homeschool four children and I just never found the time. Wildtree makes it so easy. All you need is a bowl, beer and a spoon to mix with. Just two ingredients, the mix and some beer. It doesn't get much easier than that.

Once the batter is mixed place it in an oiled pan and bake. My children were a little wary since they knew that beer was going into the mix but they were pleasantly surprised and liked it very much. When my husband came home and had dinner he tasted and enjoyed the Flaxseed Beer Bread as well. The bread was very delicious with the beef stew I had for lunch.

Think outside the box.

Tuesday, March 2, 2010

I like to get creative in the kitchen and I love to introduce my family to new recipes which soon become family favorites.

This time I decided to try marinating our chicken breasts in Wildtree's Butter Flavored Grapeseed Oil, Natural Grapeseed Oil and Hot Chilli Pepper and Garlic Blend.

Even though the Hot Chilli Pepper and Garlic Blend is a dip mix I thought it would really spice up our chicken. I mixed oils, the blend and chicken in a closeable container then added chopped shallots and roasted red peppers. The smell was divine and it tasted wonderful.

Yummy Banana Banana Bread.

Tuesday, February 23, 2010

Wildtree's Banana Banana Bread was a big hit with my family. My children loved it so you know it's a winner. I have a few picky eaters LOL. I would definitely eat this again. Banana Banana Bread is a new favorite. In fact I've already place another order for some.

I loved that it contained no milk products as  my youngest daughter and I  are allergic to milk, I know..bummer, and there aren't many foods that contain milk derivatives that we can tolerate.  There are also no nuts in the mix though you can certainly add them if you like. Also Wildtree manufactures their own food in a peanut free facility. So when I find something good that can accommodate everyone's allergies and we all enjoy it, it's a happy day.

The mix smelled wonderful and the was very easy to prepare. You add a few ingredients and your done. I added cinnamon to the mixture. It was one of the suggestions on the pack so I wanted to try it. All in all I was very pleased.

Tasty Wildtree Garlic Pepper Chicken.

Monday, February 22, 2010

Chicken is extremely  versatile, it can be prepared so many different ways. This recipe is very simple and easy, yet healthy and tasty.

You will need..

Boneless chicken breasts (I used 6)

Wildtree Roasted Garlic Grapeseed Oil (I used about 1/4 cup)

Wildtree's Garlic Pepper Blend

After rinsing your chicken place the breasts on a plate. (You will need a bowl that you can cover. I used a Rubbermaid container with lid.)

Pour your oil into the bowl and mix with the seasoning. Now dip the breasts into the mixture one at a time until all are coated and then place them all back into the bowl. Cover and place in the refrigerator for a few hours.

About 10-15 minutes before you are ready to cook them, preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Once the oven is preheated place the breasts in an oven safe dish and pop them into the oven. These will not take a real long time to cook. It is going to depend on how large the chicken breasts are. After about 10 minutes turn them over and allow them to finish cooking. Once finish..enjoy! I know we did.

Hello..nice to meet you..Join my business. Online etiquette.

Saturday, February 20, 2010

Does it feel like that no sooner than you click yes to a new friend, on whatever social site your on, that you instantly receive an invite to join their business? Or Do you receive business opportunity invites from people who aren't even on your friend list? I have been through this many times and frankly I find it irritating.

This strategy doesn't appeal to many people. Not many want a business shoved in their face. It's not the way to get them interested especially if they have had no prior contact with this person. They know nothing about the one inviting and the one inviting knows nothing about them. This method is actually very offensive to many people and they have a term for it....Spam. (Spam is not only the act of sending the same message over and over. It is also the act of sending unsolicited business invites to those on social networking sites without obtaining their permission first.)

Network Marketing is about building relationships, it's a people business. You have to get to know the person to trust them. If you had a choice to join a great business and two people were offering it to you would you join under the person you've been building a relationship with for a while or with the person who just spammed you 30 seconds after you accept their friend request.

Logically most would go with the person they have been building trust with. Trust is something that must be earned and takes time. No matter how good the opportunity seems there are people who will not join or even take a look at what is offered simply because they weren't given the chance to get to know the person. They were spammed. So they trash the unwanted email or message . They have no trust for the unknown person offering a business invite. They see no reason to take a chance.

With all the scams out there on the internet a shrewd person will want to know all aspects of what they are getting involved in ..beginning with who they are getting into business with. Many have been scammed in the past and are not willing to jump everytime they see a "great opportunity." It makes it harder for those of us with legitimate opportunities because people become jaded to the next great thing, but once they get to know and trust you they may become interested and ask you about your business.

So if you're going to do it..then do it right. You will receive better results.

Do you have what the people want?

This post is not limited to Wildtree but is in general.

Do you have a strong love for your product? That's nice but what really matters is if you have something people want, need or just have to have.

Is it something that will keep them coming back for more?

If the answer is no then think about it like this...

Ex. Let's say you are selling a tool kit. Men love tools so that should sell like hotcakes..right. Also let's generously say that you earn 50% on each tool kit you sell.

How many times will one person need to purchase the same tool kit for them self? Once if it is a good one. If it's not then I'm sure they won't be coming back to you to purchase another. In a nutshell you have to constantly find new people to purchase in order to earn.

A consumable product is something that can be used up and needs to be replenished or replaced.

Now let's say you are selling cookies. People love cookies and what do they do when they buy them? They eat them. Once eaten the cookies are gone and need to be replaced. If they are really good cookies that same person will purchase from you again and again. You will earn from that one person over and over. Imagine if you have more customers and they all do the same thing.
For those that have a consumable product...

Is it remarkable..again is it what the people want? Does your company make xyz better than any other company does or offer something that no other company does and is that product in demand?

Is the price competitive?

Ex. If you are selling vitamins for $120.99 and someone else has a similar product that is selling for $45 where do you think the consumer is going.

Just something to think about. Wildtree  products are delicious, healthy and consumable.

How did Wildtree come about?

Wednesday, February 17, 2010

In the 1990's Leslie Montie, a working mom with children who had special requirements for food, needed meals that wouldn't cause her children reactions. With the help of her parents, Frank and Judy, meals were created that didn't bother the children. The meals were enjoyable.

Leslie wanted other in similar situations to be able to enjoy tasty meals as well.Wildtree was founded on the premise that food should be natural, nutritious, delicious, and easy to prepare – all at the same time.  Leslie and her mom, Judy, began by selling their specialty blends at local cooking fairs. They quickly gained loyal followers and then began having home parties at the request of one of her customers.

In 1999 Wildtree, was officially launched as a party plan company and gained local acclaim.

Wildtree is a company with the highest standards for product and service and the passion, expertise, and resources to become the best in the industry.

A little about me.

I am a happily married homeschooling mother of four. I have all girls..yes I know, a lot of hair to do LOL. I love internet marketing as it allows me to be home when necessary as my family is very important to me.

I just recently decided to join Wildtree a company that specializes in scrumptious, healthy foods. I was introduced through a friend I met on Youtube. I was pleasantly surprised at what I found on the site. High quality foods with no msg or preservatives..foods that will not cause problems with my families allergies.

I am allergic to oranges, seafood, milk and more. My husband and oldest daughter are allergic to all nuts especially peanuts. As a result we do not feed peanuts or seafood to our other children as a precaution. Since I didn't develop my milk and seafood allergies until I was in my twenties I know that one day you can be fine eating certain food and the next day you can be laying in your local emergency room having a severe reaction so we practice better safe than sorry when it comes to certain foods.

It is hard to find companies that cater to allergies and health and especially when there are so many allergies to deal with but with Wildtree it's not a problem. They carry foods that can help you get a delicious healthy dish on the table fast without hitting a drive through or dialing your local pizza place. They even have healthy cooking oils and tasty seasonings to help you create a variety of different foods. If you like slow cooker (crock pot) meals, they offer those too. I love to cook so to my family this is a blessing to find such great products. That is why I joined because if I can share these products with others and earn it is a win-win for all involved.
